Job Description
The Gurmani Centre for Language and Literatures at the Lahore University of Management Studies, through the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), invites applications for a full-time position in Punjabi language and literature instruction, either at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer/Teaching Fellow. The position will begin in Fall 2017 with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2017. This position is eligible for renewal contingent upon a highly successful performance review. The teaching load is three courses per year for the tenure track position, and four for the Lecturer/TF level.
Candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Punjabi, Urdu [with academic knowledge of Punjabi], linguistics or language pedagogy and have a minimum of two years' experience teaching at the university level will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor.
Candidates who also have a publication record and planned research trajectory in the fields of pedagogy or literature will be given preference at this level. This faculty member is also expected to design innovative curricula, participate in committee work, and advise Panjabi language-related student initiatives and occasional independent studies.
Candidates who hold a M.A in Punjabi, a South Asia-related field, or in language pedagogy and who possess a minimum of two years' teaching experience at the university level will be considered for the rank of Lecturer/TF.
Experience with designing proficiency- and authentic materials-based curricula and/or ability to teach occasional Urdu courses are highly desirable.
