Senior Research Associate - Office of Accessibility & Inclusion

The Office of Accessibility and Inclusion (A&I) is looking to draft various policies and codes to cover areas of life at LUMS, for the students as well as employees at all levels. The office also rigorously reviews and updates the existing policies, codes and rules. This requires a thorough research on various streams and disciplines such as gender, justice, inclusion, disabilities, harassment, bullying etc. We are looking for individuals with an academic background in social sciences and a strong interest in research and writing.

Main Responsibilities:

You will be expected to work in all areas of OAI's work. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Develop research objectives and proposals;
  • Conduct research work;
  • Conduct literature reviews (academic);
  • Generate original ideas;
  • Collect and analyze data;
  • Prepare materials for submission to other offices and schools at LUMS;
  • Prepare surveys;
  • Maintain accurate records of surveys and/or research related interviews;
  • Assist with the preparation of training workshops;
  • Assist with drafting documents;

  • Good reading and writing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Must be a team worker;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Contribute to collaborative decision making;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to be productive and active while working from home (during pandemic);
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Efficiency and good time management and organizational skills (ability to prioritize tasks);
  • Punctual and committed;

Work Schedule:

Business hours may extend into the evenings and weekends depending on workload. During the Covid-19 situation, you may be allowed to work from home, which will require you to create a suitable work environment for yourself (internet connectivity, an environment that supports your productivity at home per your own preferences and working style, setting your own work-hours, etc.)

Bachelors in Social Sciences (Sociology/Anthropology/Political Science).

Knowledge of key topics like gender, inclusivity, harassment, diversity, disabilities, bullying etc. 

2-3 years of post-qualification work experience.
