Postdoc Position in Membrane Technology at LUMS
The Laboratory of Advanced Membranes and Separations (LAMS) at LUMS, seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our innovative, high-impact project on membrane-based cooling technologies. This project, funded by UKRI, involves collaboration with leading industrial and academic partners and focuses on developing next-generation multicomponent membrane solutions for clean, efficient, and durable cooling applications.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and developing polymeric membranes with tailored surface properties. Specific responsibilities include:
- Advanced Membrane Fabrication: Developing thin-film composite membranes with functionalized surfaces.
- Comprehensive Characterization: Utilizing techniques such as SEM, EDS, TGA, BET, contact angle measurements, FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, and other state-of-the-art methods.
- Performance Evaluation: Conduct lab-scale tests to establish critical relationships between fabrication methods, membrane structure, and performance.
- Research Dissemination: Writing reports, authoring peer-reviewed publications, drafting patents, and presenting findings at leading conferences.
The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising PhD scientists, engineers, graduate researchers, and undergraduates.
Key Qualifications
- A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in membrane fabrication, particularly thin-film composite membranes and surface functionalization.
- Strong expertise in membrane characterization techniques and understanding of structure-property relationships.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based, multidisciplinary research environment.
