We are currently seeking Research Assistants for a project examining the effects of free solar panel distribution among low-income households in Punjab, using household surveys and administrative data.
Candidates with a background and interest in applied economics research will be especially well-suited to this role. The position offers hands-on research experience, ideal for individuals considering further studies or careers in economics, energy, or environmental research. The role is based at LUMS, Lahore.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a liaison between the research team, Punjab government agencies, survey firm, and other implementation partners.
• Support the collection of administrative data and related information from government departments.
• Assist in the design of survey instruments.
• Ensure adherence to survey protocols, including training facilitation, issue identification and resolution, and conducting spot checks.
• Conduct data quality checks, data cleaning, and basic data analysis.
• Manage administrative tasks related to project coordination.
• Contribute to research outputs such as blog posts and policy briefs.
Candidate Requirements:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related field from a reputable institution.
• Prior experience with field research projects is an advantage.
• Strong data management skills and proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or similar.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Urdu, and Punjabi.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team with multiple concurrent objectives.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise confidently with government stakeholders.
• Willingness to work under tight deadlines and during non-standard hours, when necessary.
