Project Background:
This position is part of a large-scale, mixed-methods research project that investigates how teacher learning—through formal and informal pathways—shapes teaching quality in public primary schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The study combines survey data, classroom observations, and in-depth qualitative work to inform future policy directions on professional development and teacher support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantitative Field Design & Preparation
a. Assist in finalising survey instruments and classroom observation protocols aligned with project objectives.
b. Coordinate sampling strategy implementation, including integration of administrative records and stratification by district, gender, and qualification.
2. Fieldwork Management
a. Liaise with field partners and enumerators during data collection.
b. Monitor fieldwork in real time, troubleshoot data flow issues, and flag inconsistencies or protocol deviations.
c. Help ensure adherence to consent procedures and confidentiality protocols.
3. Data Cleaning and Processing
a. Maintain daily data quality checks and conduct consistency checks on incoming data.
b. Clean, merge, and prepare datasets (teacher survey, classroom observation, and school profiles) for analysis.
c. Generate field summaries and feedback reports for internal review.
4. Quantitative Analysis
a. Assist in generating descriptive statistics of key variables related to teacher learning, classroom practice, teaching quality scores, and teacher profiles.
b. Support regression modelling and robustness checks under supervision of PIs.
c. Contribute data visualisations and result summaries for reporting.
5. Documentation and Reporting
a. Maintain clear and reproducible code and documentation (Stata)
b. Contribute to project memos, presentations, and donor reports.
c. Assist with IRB documentation, data protection protocols, and archiving.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Education, Public Policy, Statistics, or a related social science field.
2. Proven experience with statistical software such as Stata or R (mandatory).
3. At least 1–2 years of experience working on field-based quantitative research projects in Pakistan.
4. Strong understanding of survey design, sampling strategies, and data cleaning pipelines.
5. Familiarity with education datasets or tools like Teach, TALIS, ASER, or school census data is a plus.
Preferred:
6. Exposure to mixed-methods projects and collaboration with qualitative teams.
7. Ability to travel occasionally to field sites in KP, if required.
8. Excellent organisational and communication skills; ability to meet tight deadlines.
