About the Centre:
The Centre for Blockchain and Decentralised Internet aims to lead global innovation and thought leadership in blockchain and decentralised internet technologies. By integrating world-class research, industry collaboration, and hands-on initiatives, the Centre is poised to create transformative impacts across academia, industry, and policy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Define and implement a bold vision to position the Centre as a global leader in blockchain and decentralised internet.
• Drive the launch and promotion of the Centre with a focus on ambitious, outward-looking goals.
• Ensure alignment with emerging trends and large-scale funding opportunities in blockchain and crypto technologies.
Programme Development
• Oversee the development and execution of innovative academic courses, research projects, and practical initiatives.
• Organise and support large-scale hackathons to foster hands-on engagement and real-world crypto applications.
• Develop programmes that address the needs of policymakers, industry stakeholders, and academic communities.
Global Collaboration
• Establish partnerships with leading universities across the world.
• Work with government entities to shape national initiatives in blockchain and decentralised internet.
• Engage with international and local industry experts to elevate the Centre’s visibility and impact.
Governance and Operations
• Recruit and lead a high-performing team, including researchers, support staff, and project coordinators.
• Form and manage a governance board comprising globally recognised blockchain and decentralised internet experts.
• Develop an efficient organisational structure to support the Centre’s strategic goals.
Outreach and Impact
• Promote the Centre globally, ensuring its reputation as a hub for cutting-edge blockchain and decentralised internet research and innovation.
• Generate tangible outcomes through industry partnerships, academic contributions, and policy engagement.
• Represent the Centre at high-profile conferences, seminars, and events.
Qualification
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• An advanced degree in computer science or a related field, as well as expertise in blockchain and decentralised internet, is preferred.
• Proven leadership experience in academic, industrial, or governmental roles focused on blockchain and decentralised internet.
• A strong network of connections with academic, industry, and government stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage interdisciplinary teams and large-scale projects.
• Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
Reports to: Chair of the Computer Science Department and Project PI
Time Commitment: Both full-time and part-time engagement is possible.
