Applications are invited for a Research Assistant (RA) position to commence as soon as possible on a funded research project focused on the development of new semiconducting polymers for light energy harvesting applications, as well as polymer-based products of industrial relevance. The position will be under the supervision of Prof. Dr Basit Yameen in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), LUMS. We are seeking a talented and motivated scientist with a passion for polymer chemistry and a desire to make a meaningful impact by conducting high-quality science of both societal and industrial relevance.
Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will be responsible for:
• Developing and executing strategies for the synthesis and characterisation of all-organic semiconducting polymers.
• Assembling hybrids of the developed semiconductors.
• Developing strategies to assess the light energy harvesting properties of the developed materials.
• Analysing and understanding the properties of specific polymeric products required for targeted industrial applications and leading their development.
• Assisting with scientific and technical reporting, as well as the presentation of results.
• Providing leadership by supporting and mentoring other students.
• Collaborating with other researchers within the research group led by Prof. Dr Basit Yameen.
Your Profile:
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a master’s degree in chemistry, particularly with experience in organic or polymer synthesis and characterisation, will be an advantage.
