Position Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and mission-aligned Head of Communications to lead the university’s communications strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and protecting the university's brand, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and communicating our mission and impact to diverse audiences across Pakistan and beyond.
The Head of Communications, in collaboration with the Head of Marketing, will oversee all aspects of internal and external communications, media relations, digital content, crisis communications, branding, and strategic messaging — working in close collaboration with Academic Leadership, all Advancement units including Marketing, Alumni Relations and Development, and other relevant teams across the University.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive university-wide communications strategy aligned with institutional goals and values.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to university leadership on communications and reputation management.
  • Shape and articulate key institutional messages across multiple platforms and audiences.
     

Branding & Content Strategy

  • Oversee the development and consistency of the university's brand, tone, and visual identity across all communications.
  • Lead the creation and dissemination of high-quality content for newsletters, reports, speeches, press releases, and digital campaigns.
  • Supervise the editorial calendar and content production for website, social media, and internal platforms.
     

Media & Public Relations

  • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities across traditional and emerging media to enhance brand visibility and drive impactful communication initiatives.
  • Proactively manage media engagements and respond effectively to inquiries and issues.


Creative Direction & Visual Design

  • Lead and Ideate content creation for a range of communication assets, ensuring clarity and effective messaging.
  • Oversee the designing of visually engaging materials for multiple channels to ensure maximum audience engagement.
     

Digital Communications

  • Ensure a robust digital presence, including website management, social media engagement, and online campaigns.
  • Monitor analytics and use insights to optimize communication strategies and user engagement.
     

Internal Communications

  • Foster transparency and trust through regular communication with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Coordinate crisis communications and ensure timely and effective dissemination of important institutional messages.
     

Team Management & Collaboration

  • Lead and manage a communications team, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, centres, student services, and all advancement units, to support communication goals.


To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in communications, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven sectors.
  • Proven track record in media relations, strategic planning, brand management, and crisis communication.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English (Urdu proficiency desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience with digital tools and content platforms.

  • Experience in higher education or nonprofit communications
