Position Purpose

We are seeking a skilled Content Writer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the Office of Research's communication and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing, editing, and drafting skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Key Accountabilities

  • Engage in content writing, editing, and drafting for monthly news bulletins, bi-annual newsletters, annual reports, and reports for donors and stakeholders.

  • Support change management in research policies to align with organizational goals.

  • Ensure high standards of written English in all communications. Proofread and edit content to ensure consistency in tone, style, and messaging.

  • Design and manage content for social media and the website, maintaining a cohesive and engaging online presence.

  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in content creation and management.

  • Coordinate and manage University Research Council meetings to support effective communication and collaboration.

  • Contribute efficiently to departmental events and project management activities.

  • Undertake any other duties assigned by senior management, contributing to the overall success of the department.

  • Preparation of PowerPoint presentations at regular intervals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices. Basic level skills in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and CorelDRAW.
  • Strong verbal, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent content writing, graphical representation, and high-level document preparation skills.
  • Proficiency in the latest IT office productivity tools.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in scientific and technical research proposal/report writing, including budgets.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Qualification
  • At least a Bachelor degree in relevant field
