Job Description

The Video Production Specialist supports the effective delivery of LUMSx courses and promotional content by owning and executing pre-production planning and visual development for video-based learning content. The role focuses on translating instructional intent into clear storyboards, shoot plans, and visual concepts, while working closely with design, learning experience, and production teams to ensure content is production-ready, instructionally aligned, and consistent in quality. In addition, the role contributes to improving pre-production workflows and creative practices in collaboration with the design lead and production team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop storyboards and visual concepts for course and promotional video content, ensuring alignment with instructional goals and content strategy.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, faculty, design, and production teams to translate learning objectives into clear, production-ready visual plans.
  • Incorporate feedback from instructional designers and the design lead to refine storyboards, scripts, and visual concepts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed shoot plans for lessons and promotional content, including shot lists and content chunking to support efficient filming and editing.
  • Participate in the review of video content during production and post-production, supporting consistency in content delivery, editing, animation, and overall visual quality across each course.
  • Support senior editors and animators during post-production by assisting with graphics, animations, and edits as needed to meet delivery timelines.
  • Research and stay informed about emerging practices, tools, and trends in video production and design, sharing relevant insights with the team to improve creative

  • Course videos consistently enter production with clear, instructionally aligned storyboards and shoot plans, reducing rework and back-and-forth during filming and editing.
  • Visual concepts accurately reflect instructional intent, contributing to clearer explanations and improved learner engagement.
  • Instructional designers, graphic designers, and production teams experience smooth handoffs and clear creative direction during pre-production and review stages.
  • Production timelines are supported through thoughtful planning, realistic content chunking, and well-prepared pre-production documentation.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Solid conceptual and practical understanding of end-to-end video production workflows, with particular strength in pre-production activities such as storyboarding, scripting, and visual planning for educational content.
  • Strong grasp of visual storytelling fundamentals, including composition, pacing, framing, color, lighting, and visual hierarchy, and how they support clarity, engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret instructional goals and translate them into clear, structured visual narratives, in collaboration with instructional designers and faculty.
  • Proficiency in planning and organizing shoots, including shot lists, content chunking, and lesson breakdowns, to enable efficient production and post-production workflows.
  • Working understanding of post-production processes, including editing, animation, and motion graphics, sufficient to review work, provide input, and support editors and animators effectively.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple deliverables and timelines, maintaining quality in deadline-driven environments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare storyboards, creative briefs, and review notes that are easy for cross-functional teams to act on.
  • Ability to work within established creative and instructional frameworks while applying sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Awareness of current trends and tools in video production, design, and digital learning, with the ability to apply relevant practices under guidance.

Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television Production, Media Studies, Communication Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in video production, media development, or creative content planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in scripting, storyboarding, and pre-production planning for video or multimedia projects.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams, particularly in education, media, or digital learning environments, is highly desirable.
