The Research Assistants will assist in the research endeavours of the Functional Nanomaterials Laboratory (FNL) through carrying out appropriate laboratory experiments, synthesising and characterising advanced nanomaterials, analysing nanomaterials electrochemically and physiochemically, operating and managing laboratory equipment, performing data analysis, preparing documents, and disseminating research outcomes. The research assistants will be responsible for performing experiments to meet the research objectives of Functional Nanomaterials labs generally focused on renewable energy, energy storage and conversion, electrochemical sensing, biosensing, environmental remediation, and related areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments related to the synthesis and characterisation of functional nanomaterials and their testing for use in energy, environmental, and biomedical technologies,
- Operate and maintain laboratory apparatus, including but not limited to photo- and electro-chemical workstations and those related to biosensing.
- Conduct experimental data analysis using appropriate software and prepare technical reports, presentations, and research documentation as and when required.
- Maintain laboratory records, inventories, chemicals, consumables, and experimental databases.
- Prepare research manuscripts and technical reports, and contribute to the preparation of grant proposals, patent applications, and other project deliverables.
- Support the training and supervision of undergraduate students, interns, and visiting researchers.
