Responsibilities of the Electronic Technician include the installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory instruments in the Functional Nanomaterials Laboratory (FNL) and related equipment assigned by the

Principal Investigator. The position requires providing technical support to researchers and students, maintaining and managing laboratory facilities and equipment, and helping with nanomaterials characterisation and electrochemical experiments while strictly observing safety guidelines.

Main Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and scientific equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and minor repairs to maximise equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Provide technical support and hands-on training to research staff, students, and visitors on the safe and effective operation of laboratory instruments.
  • Assist researchers in conducting materials characterisation and electrochemical experiments, including instrument setup, optimisation, and data acquisition.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and service engineers for preventive maintenance, repairs, annual maintenance contracts (AMCs), and warranty services.
  • Maintain equipment logs, maintenance schedules, calibration records, and service documentation.
  • Monitor laboratory utilities and infrastructure, including electrical systems, gas supplies, water cooling systems, compressed air, and other supporting facilities required for instrument operation.
  • Manage laboratory inventory of spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, equipment operating protocols, and quality assurance standards.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of newly acquired research equipment.
  • Perform any other technical duties assigned by the Principal Investigator or Co- Principal Investigators.

Note: This is a Contracutal/PSDP Project-based position.

Qualification

Minimum qualification required for this position: 

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with at least 01 year of handling scientific equipment related to characterisation of materials
