Independance Day Celebrations at LUMS

August 14, 2024

On the 14th of August, LUMS united to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day with a vibrant display of patriotism and community spirit.

The celebrations commenced with an engaging competition among various departments, challenging them to showcase their national pride by decorating their spaces in the spirit of Independence Day. The results were nothing short of spectacular, with departments transforming their workspaces into stunning tributes to our nation. After careful consideration, the Finance & Internal Audit Department emerged as the winner, impressing all with their meticulous and creative decor. The Office of Research claimed the runner-up position, followed closely by the Daycare Centre as the second runner-up. Each department’s effort contributed to the festive atmosphere, reflecting the collective dedication and enthusiasm of the LUMS community.

In addition to the decor competition, LUMS organised a flag-hoisting ceremony that brought together staff, faculty, and students in a shared moment of reflection and pride. The ceremony included a heartfelt speech by the Provost, who emphasised the importance of independence, unity, and the role of education in nation-building. Following the flag hoisting, the community gathered for a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolising the joy and solidarity of the day. The celebrations concluded with a delightful hi-tea, where staff and faculty enjoyed light refreshments and each other’s company, strengthening the bonds within our community.

This Independence Day celebration at LUMS was a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and national pride. It was a day filled with joy, creativity, and a shared appreciation for the freedom and opportunities that we cherish as a nation.
