Celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day at LUMS
The LUMS community came together to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day with pride, unity and a shared appreciation for the rich cultural diversity that makes Pakistan unique.
As part of Colors of Pakistan: Cultural Competition 2026, schools and departments brought Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage to life through vibrant decorations and engaging presentations, showcasing the traditions, customs and identities that contribute to the country’s rich cultural tapestry.
Following a highly competitive showcase, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) secured 1st Position, while the Office of Advancement and LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship (LCE) were declared Joint Runners-Up. We sincerely appreciate all participating schools and departments for their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication.
The celebrations featured inspiring addresses by Director Human Resources Ms Wajiha Ally and Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Shafay Shamail, followed by flag hoisting and a plantation ceremony. A special video message from Syed Babar Ali was also shared with the LUMS community. The programme continued with a patriotic performance by the students of the LUMS Music Society, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and Hi-Tea.
The celebrations reaffirmed LUMS’s commitment to fostering an inclusive community where diversity is valued and celebrated. By bringing together the many cultural traditions of Pakistan, Colours of Pakistan highlighted the richness of our differences while celebrating the shared values that unite us.

United in Diversity, Proud to be Pakistani.
