February 27, 2024

At Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), we believe in fostering a vibrant community where exploration and harmony thrive. Recently, our HR department organized an unforgettable trip to the Walled City of Lahore titled "Roshan Galiyan," inviting LUMS faculty and staff members on an enriching journey through the heart of Lahore's historic district.

Roshan Galiyan was an evening brimming with excitement and exploration as LUMS employees set out to uncover the hidden gems of the Walled City. Led by knowledgeable guides, they navigated the maze-like streets and bustling markets. Every step was a revelation, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Lahore's cultural heritage.

The trip's highlights included visits to iconic landmarks such as Delhi Gate, Sabeel Wali Gali, Akbari Mandi, Shahi Hamam, Mohallah Nimad Garan, Tung Bazar, Koocha Ghubarchiyan, Gali Surjan Singh, Haveli Mian Sultan, and Dina Nath Well. Each of these locations revealed unique stories and historical significance, enriching the participants' understanding of Lahore’s past. The exploration continued through Kashmiri Bazar and culminated at the exquisite Masjid Wazir Khan, renowned for its intricate design and serene ambiance.

What truly made Roshan Galiyan special were the shared experiences among colleagues. As we navigated the winding streets and shared stories of Lahore's past, bonds were strengthened, fostering a sense of unity and belonging within the LUMS community. Stops at Craft Ghar showcased local artisanship, while a ride in the Rangeela Rickshaw added a touch of vibrant local colour to the journey.

The group gathered at Masjid Wazir Khan for a mesmerizing qawwali performance, immersing themselves in the soulful melodies of Sufi music. Surrounded by the mosque's serene beauty, we savoured traditional refreshments renowned in Androon Lahore, fully immersing ourselves in the city's rich cultural tapestry.

The "Roshan Galiyan" trip was a memorable experience that celebrated the history, culture, and community spirit that define LUMS.
