Women In Charge: Empowering Mobility with LUMS & Atlas Honda

The Office of Human Resources, in collaboration with Atlas Honda, successfully relaunched Women In Charge—an initiative aimed at empowering women by equipping them with essential bike riding skills. This transformative programme fostered confidence, independence, and mobility within the LUMS community.
As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Atlas Honda had been committed to mobility-focused initiatives, having trained over 7,000 women to ride bikes and navigate their surroundings with ease. Building on the success of the previous year, where over 100 LUMS community members participated, this year’s programme continued to uphold the mission of empowerment through mobility.
The five-day training, held near M6 Hostels from February 24th to 28th February, provided participants with hands-on riding experience. The programme featured two days of simulator-based training, followed by five days of open bike riding sessions available to both men and women. Participants also had the opportunity to experience Benlye and CB150 test rides, explore Honda’s latest models, and engage in interactive activities, including the Wheel of Fortune, with exciting giveaways.
Led by expert instructors in a safe and supportive environment, the initiative not only enhanced riding skills but also encouraged greater independence and self-confidence among participants. Through this collaborative effort, LUMS and Atlas Honda reinforced their commitment to fostering empowerment and mobility within the community.
