The Office of Human Resources, in collaboration with Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS), organized an engaging workshop observing World Mental Health Day on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. This interactive workshop centred on addressing the prevalent issues of workplace stress, depression and anxiety that affect individuals across various professions.
In today's fast-paced world, prioritizing mental health is paramount. Dr. Tahira Haider, Head of Department at CAPS, and her expert team led the session, offering invaluable insights and practical strategies for addressing these mental health challenges that arise in the workplace. The audience explored different stress management techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Techniques, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and the Squared Breathing Technique.
Attendees also proactively participated in a stress management exercise where they identified and recorded their stress triggers on provided worksheets, aimed at addressing unhelpful thinking patterns. This activity was followed by an interactive Q&A session. The event empowered attendees with tools and knowledge to enhance their mental well-being.
Concluding the workshop on a thankful note, Ms. Hajra Mazari, Head of Talent Management HR, presented Dr. Haider and her team with a token of appreciation, thus reinforcing our commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy environment at LUMS.
