Women in Charge Initiative - LUMS X Atlas Honda

February 15, 2024 to March 6, 2024

The Office of Human Resources and Atlas Honda Limited collaborated to launch the "Women in Charge" initiative at LUMS on February 15, 2024. This collaborative effort aims to empower women by equipping them with the necessary skills to learn how to ride a bike. The initiative achieved this goal by engaging participants in a Real-Time Simulation activity that enhances their understanding and skills. Following the simulation, a practical bike riding training boot camp was organized for two weeks to further develop their abilities.

The initiative commenced with an inaugural session that marked the importance of women's empowerment, prioritizing road safety, and fostering independence, particularly through enhanced mobility. Mr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, General Manager After Sales at Atlas Honda, delivered a keynote speech appreciating the efforts of both organizations in ensuring the success of this initiative. Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, the Director of the Office of Advancement, took this opportunity to commend Atlas Honda for their unwavering dedication, longstanding relation with LUMS, and the importance of women empowerment.

Various aspects such as road safety, including the identification of major causes of accidents, were covered in the training session. Participants learned about response times, proper use of horns, and the importance of peripheral vision while driving.

The event concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session, facilitating meaningful interaction among the participants. Subsequently, as a symbol of appreciation, Atlas Honda presented us with a shield and souvenirs, and LUMS reciprocated by presenting them with a shield. This exchange of tokens expressed our sincere gratitude for their invaluable contributions.

As a gesture of support to the LUMS community, special benefits were provided by Atlas Honda, including discounts on bike and car oil changes, as well as other free services for bike users.
